Gospel group - The crowns of glory sues Rick Ross, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre Over “3 Kings” Sample

Gospel music group - The Crowns of Glory which consists of Ciara Shepherd Warrick and Jimmy Lee Weary has filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre on “3 Kings”  a sample of Crowns of Glory’s “I’m So Grateful (Keep in Touch).”

It was related that the A- List rappers gave just one member of the gospel group, Jimmy Lee Weary, a writing credit. They say that the lawsuit is about more than just the sample but also about how it connects them to a song that is against their values.
“The video includes very graphic depictions of drug use, vulgarity, nudity, gun violence, criminal conduct, actions demeaning to women and many other items that are certainly inconsistent with Plaintiffs’ wishes for how Plaintiffs’ song would be portrayed”.
They claim that no members of the group were ever compensated in any way for the sample or even asked for permission. The lawsuit also includes the producer Jake One and the label, Universal Music Group.
