Michelle Obama Dressed By Nigerian Designer - Maki Oh at the “Connecting Continents” Seminar in South Africa

United States first lady Michelle Obama was spotted in South Africa While on a tour of Africa. She was wearing a hand printed chiffon blouse with an a-line skirt, in green with bold prints by Nigerian design label Maki Oh. She wore the Adire Tally shirt to a MTV Base Meets African Youth event while she was in South Africa as part of her visit to the continent with her husband Barack Obama.

She participated in a 'live hangout' called Connecting Continents: A Conversation with U.S First Lady Michelle Obama which saw her chatting to four young people from Africa held at Johannesburg

According to Interview Magazine, Oh "hand-dyes all of her fabrics with natural indigo leaves and paints on prints with a cassava plant paste, a traditional Nigerian practice called adire". This is a result of the designer's environmental and cultural agenda.

According to Howzit Maki Oh isn't the first African designer to dress Obama, as she has worn dresses by Tunisian born designer Azzedine Alaia to public appearances in the past.
